FALLS CHURCH, Va., July 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN)
and Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) have expanded the roles of teammates BAE
SYSTEMS and General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) to address added requirements to the
Distributed Common Ground System (DCGS) 10.2 program, which is now valued at
approximately $360 million.
U.S. Navy requirements were added in April after the U.S. Air Force
withdrew the request for proposal in order to revise the DCGS 10.2 upgrade as
a multi-service program.
"Our team's solution translates our first-hand domain knowledge into a
clear vision that addresses critical intelligence needs," said John Nannen,
vice president of Remote Systems for Raytheon. "Our team's relevant programs
include virtually every major system that will interface with, or transition
to, DCGS Block 10.2."
Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, BAE SYSTEMS, and General Dynamics will use an
enterprise, modular, architecture that is drawn from current military and
national programs and based upon proven commercial and government products.
The truly-open architecture and standards-based system will lay the foundation
for DCGS Block 10.2, Block 20, Block 30, and beyond, which will ensure joint
interoperability and reduced cost and integration of future upgrades.
"Elevating the roles of BAE SYSTEMS and General Dynamics ensures our team
provides the right leadership and experience to deliver a service based
architecture capable of integrating C2ISR (Command, Control, Intelligence and
Surveillance) operations across a globally-integrated, distributed, and
collaborative information technology enterprise, said Michael LaRouche,
director of DoD ISR systems for Lockheed Martin's Management and Data Systems.
"We understand the services' vision and have designed the DCGS for
backward compatibility and modular change - incorporating advanced technology
across industry to enable effects based operations and change the course of
events in hours, minutes, or even seconds."
