SAN FRANCISCO, July 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Providian Financial Corporation
(NYSE: PVN) announced the hiring of two financial services industry veterans
to the Company's management team.
John Botcheller has joined Providian as Executive Vice President of
Finance reporting to Vice Chairman and Chief Financial Officer Tony Vuoto.
Mr. Botcheller, who was most recently the Chief Financial Executive of
Woori Bank, the second largest bank in Korea, will be responsible for
accounting and financial planning at Providian. He previously held senior
positions at Aetna, Inc. and Citicorp (now Citigroup), including chief
financial officer of Citibank's U.S. and Asian consumer businesses.
Mr. Botcheller began his career with PriceWaterhouse (now
PricewaterhouseCoopers).
John Hale, who most recently was the partner in charge of KPMG's Credit
Risk Management Services, has joined Providian as Executive Vice President and
Chief Enterprise Risk Officer. Mr. Hale will be responsible for the
enterprise-wide risk and assurance functions of internal audit, credit review
and enterprise risk management. He will report to the audit committees of
Providian's Boards of Directors, and administratively to Providian Vice
Chairman and General Counsel Ellen Richey, who had also been serving as acting
Enterprise Risk Officer.
