LONDON, FARNBOROUGH AIRSHOW, July 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Pratt &
Whitney, a United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX) company, will for the
first time, display newly manufactured Global Material Solutions (GMS)
CFM56-3 engine castings at the Farnborough International Airshow. The GMS
castings, on display at the United Technologies stand (Hall 4, F13),
include the 1st to 4th stage LPT blades, LPT 1st Vane Cluster, HPT 1st
blade, HPT 1st vane assembly and HPT shroud.
"The full set of OEM-quality gas-path castings on display at
Farnborough illustrates the progress we are making toward certification and
delivery of CFM56-3 engine parts," said Matthew Bromberg, vice president
and general manager for Global Material Solutions. "The Pratt & Whitney
Global Material Solutions development program is on schedule; we will begin
to deliver gas-path parts to CFM56-3 engine operators early next year and
life-limited parts in early 2008."
Global Material Solutions, an industry-revolutionizing initiative
delivering OEM-quality life-limited and gas-path parts for the CFM56-3
engine at a competitive price, was announced earlier this year. The new
business' first customer is United Airlines.
