SAN JOSE, Calif., July 17 /PRNewswire/ -- North American-based
manufacturers of semiconductor equipment posted $1.65 billion in orders in
June 2007 (three-month average basis) and a book-to-bill ratio of 0.94
according to the June 2007 Book-to-Bill Report published today by SEMI. A
book-to-bill of 0.94 means that $94 worth of orders were received for every
$100 of product billed for the month.
The three-month average of worldwide bookings in June 2007 was $1.65
billion. The bookings figure is relatively flat with the final May 2007
level of $1.64 billion and about seven percent less than the $1.78 billion
in orders posted in June 2006.
The three-month average of worldwide billings in June 2007 was $1.75
billion. The billings figure is about five percent greater than the final
May 2007 level of $1.67 billion and about 13 percent greater than the June
2006 billings level of $1.56 billion.
"North American bookings and billings are trending up slightly, and are
at their highest levels of the year," said Stanley T. Myers, president and
CEO of SEMI. "Based on SEMI mid-year consensus forecast data, we expect the
semiconductor equipment market to experience strong sales in 2007 of over
$40 billion, driven by investments in 300 mm technology and 45 nm tools."
The SEMI book-to-bill is a ratio of three-month moving averages of
worldwide bookings and billings for North American-based semiconductor
equipment manufacturers. Billings and bookings figures are in millions of
U.S. dollars.
