COLUMBIA, S.C., July 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Edens & Avant announced today that
Jason K. Tompkins has been named Chief Financial Officer. He will have
overall responsibility for the Company's capital markets, finance, accounting
and technology activities. Tompkins joined Edens & Avant in May 2004 as Vice
President - Finance & Capital Markets and previously served as Vice President
in Wachovia Securities' Real Estate Investment Banking Group in Richmond,
Virginia. Tompkins also served as a Director in the Real Estate Capital
Markets Group of Andersen Corporate Finance LLC in Washington, D.C., and Vice
President of European Mergers & Acquisitions for GE Capital Real Estate in
Paris.
Jay P. Matera has been named Executive Vice President. He will continue
to be responsible for the Company's accounting, financial reporting and tax
activities. Previously, Matera was Chief Financial Officer at the Company.
Mark P. Garside has joined Edens & Avant as Vice President - Capital
Markets. With eight years of experience in real estate law and investment
banking, he will be responsible for the execution of the Company's capital
markets activities. Previously, Garside was a Vice President in Wachovia
Securities' Real Estate Investment Banking Group in Richmond, Virginia and
held positions at Lehman Bros. He received a JD from the University of North
Carolina School of Law and an MBA from the University of Virginia.
Christopher J. Kopecky has joined the Company as Vice President -
Financial Reporting. With nearly 12 years of public accounting experience, he
will be responsible for overseeing the Company's internal and external
financial reporting as well as the Company's internal control environment.
Previously, Kopecky was a Senior Manager with Ernst & Young LLP in Dallas,
Texas where he specialized in the financial services and real estate
industries within their Assurance & Advisory Business Services group. He is a
graduate of the University of Oklahoma, with a Bachelor of Business
Administration degree in Accounting.
Maria A. Smith continues to be Vice President - Controller of the Company
and will be responsible for the corporate accounting and treasury management
functions of the Company.
De Anne C. Dunn has joined Edens & Avant as Director of Taxes. With 16
years of accounting and tax experience, she will be responsible for the
Company's tax compliance, structuring and special projects. Previously, Dunn
was a Senior Tax Manager with Grant Thornton LLP in Columbia, South Carolina.
She is a graduate of the University of South Carolina, with a Bachelor of
Science degree in Accounting.
