FARNBOROUGH, England, July 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Business ethics, export
control modernization, and supply chain security were the main topics of
discussion when chief executive officers from top aerospace and defense
companies in the U.S. and Europe met at the Farnborough International
Airshow Tuesday.
Tom Enders, chief executive officer of EADS and Ronald Sugar, chairman
and chief executive officer of Northrop Grumman led their respective groups
at the CEO Dialogue, an annual meeting at international air shows in Europe
led by the chairmen of the Aerospace Industries Association of America and
the AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe.
This year's topics reflect the increasingly global and interdependent
nature of the aerospace and defense industries.
The discussion yielded an agreement to initiate new cooperative
activities and further discussions between the two industry associations on
sharing ethics best practices, identifying improvements in the export
control system, and developing common standards for certifying secure
supply chains globally.
"It is always valuable to have an opportunity to engage our colleagues
in Europe to discuss areas of collaboration and address issues of mutual
concern," AIA President and CEO John Douglass said.
"As European companies increasingly compete and cooperate in each
other's markets, we have the opportunity to develop common ground on
efficient and effective business practices," said Francois Gayet, ASD
secretary general.
Also participating in the high-level discussion were Raytheon's William
Swanson, General Electric's David Calhoun, and Charles Edelstenne of
Dassault.
