Bridging the Gap Between Youth and Computers
NEW YORK, July 19 /PRNewswire/ -- VirtuLife LLC (private -
http://www.virtulife.com) announced that it is presenting at the upcoming New
York Venture Capital Conference & Exposition to be held July 17-19th in New
York City. The conference is the largest gathering of the City's rapidly
growing venture capital community -- over one thousand people are expected to
attend, including hundreds of venture capitalists, investment bankers, angels,
advisors, managers of incubators and accelerators, and experts from all over
the country.
VirtuLife LLC is one of twenty-five companies that were selected from
among the hundreds of applicants that submitted their business plan, and in
the opinion of the judges represents the hottest and brightest in NYC. Eric
Hildenbrand, VirtuLife's founder and President stated: "It is a great honor to
have been selected to present at the conference. By choosing VirtuLife, the
selection committee has demonstrated that the market is still interested in
innovative solutions aimed at improving the way children interact with
computers and the Internet."
VirtuLife's goal is to develop the first three-dimensional desktop and
Internet platform specifically designed for children and teens that
encompasses all of their computer activities (both online and offline). The
company is a hybrid Software/Internet concern, with a mission to provide a
safe, custom computer/Internet experience for children that empowers,
educates, and entertains.
The company believes that current computer and Internet software was
designed and intended for adult audiences. Even the name "desktop" points to
the fact that the technology was developed more for adults. "Children don't
use office desktops in the real world, yet the market has forced them to
conform to this latent concept" added Mr. Hildenbrand. "The same goes for the
Internet, where a large proportion of child web sites employ adult-created
content, even though children are naturally and exuberantly creative on their
own."
VirtuLife is committed to accenting this environment with child-directed
content that is entertaining and teaches life skills, while also allowing
parents to play an active role in monitoring the appropriateness of their
child's activities. The company is developing its application using open
standard languages that will permit easy Web-based tie-ins by partners and by
participating firms for promotions of all kinds. Furthermore, since an
overwhelming amount of the content is graphics-based, the model is highly
scalable and will facilitate quick adaptation for the Asian and European
markets.
