NORTHBROOK, Ill., July 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Allstate will host the 2002
Northbrook Ride for Kids(R) program to raise money for the Pediatric Brain
Tumor Foundation of the U.S. (PBTFUS) on Sunday, July 21. More than 2,000
motorcyclists are expected to participate in a motorcycle parade through the
north and northwest suburbs of Chicago with the parade beginning and ending at
Allstate's Northbrook Campus. Registration for the event will begin at 7
a.m., with the parade of motorcycles starting at 9:30 a.m. at the Allstate
corporate campus located at 2775 Sanders Road in Northbrook.
The parade of motorcycles will conclude with a "Celebration of Life"
program that includes inspirational speeches from the children and families
that have been affected by this disease.
"We are honored to host the Northbrook Ride for Kids(R) at our corporate
campus," said Doug Wendt, regional vice president for Allstate Insurance
Company. "The commitment of the participants and the courage of these
children and their families makes this an event Allstate is proud to be a part
of. Hopefully through events like this in Northbrook and around the country,
a cure will be found for this horrible disease."
According to the PBTFUS, over 100,000 people in the United States will be
diagnosed with a brain tumor this year. Pediatric brain tumors are the
deadliest of all cancers and kill more children than any other disease.
PBTFUS is the largest non-governmental funding source for childhood brain
tumor research in the world, and is funded primarily by the proceeds from Ride
for Kids(R) events throughout the country. For those who are unable to attend
the Northbrook Ride for Kids(R), but would still like to make a donation to
the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, call (800) 253-6530.
Through its Specialty Product Lines, this is the third year that Allstate
is hosting the Northbrook Ride for Kids(R) Program.
Since 1984, the motorcycling community has continuously provided an
outpouring of love, goodwill and camaraderie through their national support of
the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation's Ride for Kids(R) Program. Nationally,
the Ride is being held in 22 cities this year. The event has been held in the
Chicago area since 1989. Last year, more than $253,000 was raised at the
Northbrook Ride for Kids(R) event.
