IDD Aerospace Wins Smiths Aerospace Contract for F-35 Joint Strike Fighter

    FARNBOROUGH, England, July 18 /PRNewswire/ -- IDD AEROSPACE announced
today that they have won a contract with Smiths Aerospace in Cheltenham UK,
to provide a cockpit component for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF).
    Under the agreement IDD Aerospace will develop, design and manufacture
a specialty bezel for Smiths' Standby Flight Display (SFD) delivering
approximately 2000 units over ten years. The bezel will be NVIS (night
vision imaging system) capable and have built-in tactile control
functionality.
    "Smiths chose IDD for this project because of their extensive military
experience and their superior human-to-machine interface tactile feel,"
said Andy Noakes, Project Manager for Smiths' SFD project. "Their
participation will greatly benefit us in the development of this system."
    IDD has produced primary flight display bezels for a wide range of
military aircraft applications including the F/A-18, F-22 and F-15 fighter
jets.
