A complete solution in a 3mm x 3mm space
MILPITAS, Calif., July 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Sipex Corporation (Nasdaq:
SIPX) today announced the release of the SP7120 family of multi-channel,
linear LED Drivers. The family was created to minimize the board space and
simplify designs required to drive LED display backlight by eliminating all
required external components. The family currently includes the two-channel
SP7120 and the three-channel SP7122. The devices are factory programmed in
fixed 15mA, 20mA, or 25mA current outputs which are designated by an A, B,
or C, respectively, in the suffix of the part number. Customers order the
output options based upon their backlight current requirements.
Eliminating the external components reduces board space, critical in
today's ever shrinking designs. The entire Sipex driver solution requires
an area of only 3mm x 3mm. Channel-to-channel matching is improved to a
0.8% (typical) with a 3% absolute current accuracy, versus competitive
solutions of 2% (typical) matching and 7% absolute accuracy, ensuring the
best light uniformity which is critical in the backlighting of small
displays.

The SP7120 and SP7122 are available in a Pb-free SOT 23-6 package. They
are specified over the -40 degrees C to 85 degrees C temperature range.
