MEYLAN, France, May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- FABMASTER today announced the
production release of an advanced SMT Line Optimizer for FABmaster GOLD, the
latest generation of FABmaster CIM automation software for manufacturing and
test. The state of the art SMT Line Optimizer is the result of 8 years'
research and development in partnership with the University of Erlangen. The
optimizer maximizes machine performance and gives accelerated throughput on
balanced lines, fully utilizing plant capacity. Using powerful genetic
algorithms, evolution strategies and heuristics, the optimizer generates the
fastest schedule for any production volume and mix, minimizing cycle time.
Benchmarks have shown that placement time calculations are accurate to better
than 5% and cycle times are reduced by up to 25%.
Machine optimization is based on accurate models and kinematic simulation.
Speed/acceleration in each axis, pick & place z-axis, feeder bank movement,
nozzle switching, feeder changes, reduced speed operation, tray access, camera
alignment, vision and fiducial scanning, coplanarity, etc., are all taken into
account. There are optimizers for all machine technologies including turret,
pick & place, collect & place (linear and rotary),
multiple pick/multiple place, and modular pick & place/collect & place
machines. A wide range of machines are supported, including machines from
Fuji, Panasonic, Siemens, Universal and other vendors. Machine library
linkers for specific machines automatically recover data required for program
generation from machine libraries.
SMT line optimization is scalable for any board volume and mix. For high
volume production weight is put on balancing and setup/sequence optimization
to minimize cycle time. For low volume/high mix more weight can be put on
minimizing changeover time, taking into account the previous machine setups on
the line. Downtime is minimized by using the same setup for family groups or
clusters of boards and by assigning multiple feeders for high count parts to
different machines on the line. The optimizer balances lines configured with
placement systems from different vendors.
FABmaster helps electronics manufacturers to get boards into production
faster, minimizing cycle times and guaranteeing the accuracy of production
data.
