MEYLAN, France, April 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Under the terms of the agreement,
FABmaster will be the standard CIM automation software package used throughout
the Barco group. The FABmaster software makes it possible to introduce a high
level of automation into the preparation of electronic production and the
generation of programs for production machines. "FABmaster is capable of
driving all of our new production machines" Frans Van Hooreweghe, Managing
Director of BIT commented back in 1997.
Barco, founded in 1934, is a fast growing technology group headquartered
in Europe with a reputation for entrepreneurial flair and offering state of
the art graphics, communications, displays, machine vision, projection and
automation systems and services. Barco Interconnection Technologies (BIT)
groups together four companies, all subcontractors in the Barco Group, which
assemble and test PCBs and hybrids, using surface mount and FBGA technologies.
"Never too much automation" remains the credo of BIT at Poperinge whose
management is expanding the group's work capacity through automation so that
it can take on more contracts from third party companies. As a key part of
this strategy, BIT first set up an automated process for its electronic
circuit board production using FABmaster in 1997. The growth of this initial
cooperation into a corporate level agreement between BIT and FABmaster
confirms the dynamic relationship between the two groups and is based on the
proven achievement of stringent quality goals.
FABmaster software will be installed at Barco plants world-wide. A Barco
in-house team trained at FABmaster will be dedicated to supporting all
FABmaster software installed in the Barco group. All Barco production
engineers will have access to a central FABmaster library. The interface to
this library has already been developed in Microsoft Access format and is
fully operational at Barco's factory in Poperinge.
The FABmaster Group is the leading world-wide supplier of CIM automation
software for manufacturing and test with an installed base of over
2,850 programming stations operating world-wide in Europe, America and Asia.
