Sun-Netscape Alliance Names Bud Tribble Chief Technology Officer

 Former Macintosh Pioneer, NeXT Cofounder and Sun Software Executive to Lead
      Technology Direction and Innovation for the Sun-Netscape Alliance

    PALO ALTO and MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., July 21 /PRNewswire/ -- The Sun-
Netscape Alliance today announced that Guy "Bud" Tribble has been appointed
Chief Technology Officer. A renowned industry visionary and user interface
design expert, Dr. Tribble will lead the Alliance's technology direction while
remaining focused on delivering products and services that accelerate the
rapid move of business to the Net Economy.

    Prior to his appointment as Chief Technology Officer of the Sun-Netscape
Alliance, Dr. Tribble served as vice president of Architecture and Technology
for the Consumer & Embedded division of Sun Microsystems, Inc. Before joining
Sun, he co-founded NeXT Computer, Inc. and spent seven years as its vice
president of Software Engineering, where he was the key architect of the
NEXTSTEP operating system. In addition, Dr. Tribble ran the software
engineering group at Apple Computer, Inc. during the development of the
Macintosh computer.
    Dr. Tribble earned a B.A. degree in biophysics at the University of
California, San Diego and a M.D. and Ph.D. in neurophysiology at the
University of Washington.
