Raytheon Continues Run of MSSR Sales Successes in China

HARLOW, England, July 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Systems Limited (RSL)
continues its run of contract wins for Monopulse Secondary Surveillance Radar
(MSSR) systems in the People's Republic of China. On July the 5th a contract
for an MSSR at Nanning, in Guangxi province, was signed in Guangzhou. This is
the headquarters of China's Central and Southern Region of the Air Traffic
Management Bureau (ATMB), itself part of the Civil Aviation Administration of
China (CAAC).
The Central and Southern Region is RSL's biggest ATMB customer in China
and the company is hopeful of further business as radar coverage is expanded
to monitor and control this busy airspace. The Nanning award brings the total
number of MSSR systems within the region to ten and within the whole of the
People's Republic to 27, all achieved within the last eight years...
RSL has now signed ten MSSR contracts since last September, an average of
one system each month, making China one of the company's largest commercial
customers. MSSR's, which can be used as stand alone systems or in conjunction
with Primary Surveillance Radar, provide additional, more comprehensive data
to air traffic controllers.
Raytheon Systems Limited, the UK-based subsidiary of Raytheon Company,
employs over 1700 people throughout the country. The company is a major
supplier to the UK Ministry of Defence and has won programmes such as ASTOR
and SIFF. RSL is involved in bids for other programmes such as the Royal
Navy's Future Carrier (CVF), the British Army's Light Forces Anti-Tank Guided
Weapon and the RAF's Precision Guided Bomb. RSL also designs, develops and
manufactures ATC radar, identification systems and anti-jam navigation
systems. The company has a software engineering facility, is a specialist
supplier of high reliability electronics and undertakes aircraft servicing and
modification.

With headquarters in Lexington, Massachusetts, Raytheon Company is a
global technology leader in defence, government, and commercial electronics,
and business and special mission aircraft.
