Rational and NTT Comware Will Also Collaborate to Deliver and Support
Future Versions of Rational's e-Development Solution to the Japanese Market

Rational Software (Nasdaq: RATL), the e-development company(TM), and NTT
Comware today announced that NTT Comware will implement Rational's
e-development solution across its entire development organization.
NTT Comware provides integrated IT solutions, including consulting and
outsourcing services which support the development, maintenance, and operation
of advanced telecommunication systems and networking environments in Japan.
NTT Comware's development organization currently consists of approximately
3,000 engineers.
NTT Comware will introduce the Rational Suite(TM) product family into its
internal development environment and implement the Rational Unified
Process(R), a best practices framework that enables enhanced software
development team productivity. The Rational Unified Process integrates with
Rational tools to provide seamless, browser-based delivery of these best
practices.
Also as part of the agreement, Rational and NTT Comware will collaborate
to deliver and support future versions of Rational's software development
tools, best practices, and services to the Japanese market.
