while its 7-inch-high compact design and 4U form factor maximizes space in

the 8450R can easily support data-intensive database applications and web

8450R includes support for 64-bit and 32-bit PCI add-in cards.

The 8450R offers high-availability and fault-tolerant functionality with
support for five hot-pluggable drives, three redundant, load-balancing
hot-swappable power supplies (standard) and redundant, hot-swappable fans.
The server also includes eight hot-pluggable PCI expansion slots, enabling
cards to be added or replaced without the need to power down the server.
The server features support for up to five 36GB Ultra160 SCSI hot
swappable hard drives with support for various RAID options. These storage
features offer exceptional performance for data-intensive applications such as
database re-indexing, large spreadsheet recalculations and storage and
retrieval of large document and image files.
Designed for easy serviceability and manageability, the 8450R's new
tool-free chassis provides easy access to critical components, greatly
