Catalina Marketing Japan Signs Pilot Contract With Maruetsu

    ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., July 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
Catalina Marketing Japan, an international division of Catalina Marketing
Corporation (NYSE: POS), has announced a pilot agreement with Maruetsu, Inc.
to install the Catalina Marketing Network (R) in six of its supermarkets
throughout Tokyo and its neighboring communities.  The pilot program will
begin in late October of this year.

    Established in 1962, Maruetsu is the largest supermarket in Japan with
approximately 200 store locations. Maruetsu's main objective is to increase
customer store loyalty by speaking with consumers on a one-to-one basis. Upon
successful completion of the pilot program, the retailer plans to expand the
reach of the Catalina Marketing Network into additional stores.
