FLOWER MOUND, TX UNITED STATES
FLOWER MOUND, Texas, July 24 /PRNewswire/ -- The World Record for a
MENTOS(R) Eruption, a geyser created when a MENTOS(R) mint is dropped into
a carbonated liquid, was set Tuesday, July 10 at Circle R Ranch during a
special event for Books Are Fun, the world's leading display marketer of
books and gifts. The New World Record of 791 MENTOS(R) Eruptions beat the
former record set on May 24, 2007 in Cincinnati, Ohio when 504
MENTOS(R)-and-Coke geysers were set off.

Representatives from the Guinness World Records certified the record-
setting accomplishment, which went off inside the Circle R Ranch Rodeo
Arena where independent sales representatives from Books Are Fun, a Readers
Digest Company, simultaneously dropped MENTOS(R) into two-liter bottles of
Diet Pepsi creating geysers reaching over 29 feet with the use of a nozzle.
"It was an awesome display," said Dave Krishock, President of Books Are
Fun. "And what a unique way for our sales reps to come together and create
a lasting memory of being part of a Guinness World Record-winning team."
The Geyser Tube(TM) used by the Books Are Fun representatives was
invented by Steve Spangler, and is produced and distributed by Be Amazing!
Be Amazing! is dedicated to helping children discover the world of Science
through open- ended experiments. The Geyser Tube(TM) acts as a launching
mechanism as well as a focuser for the stream of soda, causing the geyser
to reach a greater height than was previously possible.
"It was an amazing sight," said Circle R Ranch Managing Partner Steven
Foster. "We've produced some fun events in 35 years of operation, but this
one certainly makes the biggest splash!"
Working with a nationwide network of more than 800 independent sales
representatives, BAF (http://www.booksarefun.com) sells books, gifts and other
