Discreet to Bundle Pulse Entertainment's Producer(TM) 4.0 With 3d studio max Modeling and Animation Solution

Pulse Producer Enables Direct Web-Publishing of Rich Interactive Media

    NEW ORLEANS, (SIGGRAPH 2000, BOOTH 1540), July 25 /PRNewswire/ -- As Pulse
Entertainment announced general availability of its Pulse Producer(TM) 4.0
here, Discreet, a division of Autodesk, simultaneously announced it would
bundle Pulse Producer with its 3d studio max, by far the most popular 3D
solution in the world, with an installed base of 132,000 rich media content
developers.
"The new Pulse Producer allows a 3d studio max artist to easily bring
their 3D characters to the Web," said Phillip Miller, senior director of
Discreet Software Products. "The number of people developing 3D for the web is
growing rapidly, and Discreet is making it easier for these developers by
putting Pulse's technology for interactive characters right into the box with
3d studio max."
Pulse Producer 4.0 (also available for download at http://www.pulse3d.com) is a
comprehensive utility plug-in designed especially for 3d studio max. The
utility panel interface integrates Pulse Producer directly into max, providing
developers with optimal workflow within the familiar max environment as they
work with textures, animation and geometry before publishing their projects on
the web. Pulse Producer's interface allows a project to be viewed immediately
in a web browser by clicking a run button.
"Discreet and Pulse both believe that developers have just scratched the
surface potential of the e-commerce, entertainment, education and advertising
possibilities of content enabled by 3d studio max and Pulse technology," said
Mark Yahiro, president of Pulse Entertainment. "Pulse Producer 4.0 is the next
step for 3d studio max developers who want to publish cutting-edge interactive
content on the Web directly from the max interface."

    About Pulse Producer 4.0
Pulse Producer enables 3d studio max projects with the power of
interactivity. Using JavaScript and Pulse's own proprietary scripting
language, behaviors are assigned buttons that allow a viewer to select the
behaviors in any order using mouse or keyboard controls. Pulse Producer
supports character studio 2.2 and the 3d studio max 3 morpher. When models are
created in character studio using Physique, Pulse Producer generates the
characters with vertex-blended deformations. Biped structures and bones that
control skin deformation are maintained, while their motions are preserved for
the Web. Target morphs allow a user to create precise lip-syncing and facial
expressions that add life to Web-based characters.
