WAM!NET Announces New Rendering Service Initiatives at SIGGRAPH 2000

WAM!NET(R) ROD!(TM) Lite, Expanded Reseller Channel, and Media Industry
                  Workflow Portal Highlight Company Presence

    NEW ORLEANS, July 25 /PRNewswire/ -- WAM!NET Inc., a leading provider of
digital content management services for the global media industry, today
announced two significant initiatives -- soon-to-be available, ROD!(TM) Lite,
an Internet version of the WAM!NET rendering service, Render On Demand, and a
program to develop WAM!NET(R) ROD!(TM) Service Bureau, a new network of
resellers -- that will make its rendering services more accessible to small,
medium and large firms involved in the creation, production and distribution
of feature films, television content, advertising, and animation designs.
The announcements, made at the SIGGRAPH 2000, an international conference
on computer graphics and interactive techniques (Ernest N. Morial Convention
Center, New Orleans (WAM!NET Booth #1363, Hall F), further advances WAM!NET's
strategy of making its e-services the industry standard for online digital
media creation and collaboration.
WAMNET.COM, the world's first media industry workflow portal, also is
making its U.S. debut at SIGGRAPH 2000. The new portal will be introduced in
late August.
According to Don Ritzman, marketing director, Entertainment Services,
WAM!NET Inc., WAMNET.COM will unite the collaborative power of the Internet
with the proven value of WAM!NET's services and hosted third-party
applications to become a one-stop destination that addresses the entire
spectrum of needs in the creation and management of digital content.

    WAM!NET ROD! Is Internet Enabled
WAM!NET ROD!, used by a growing number of animators and feature film
producers is expected to be available soon via the Internet on WAMNET.COM.
ROD! Lite will support the Windows(R) NT platform. Support for additional
platforms is planned for 2001, according to company officials.
Today, users can access ROD! via WAM!NET(R) Direct!(TM) Service and FTP.
ROD! Lite will give users easy access to WAM!NET's 350-plus CPU render farm
via the Internet. WAMNET's ROD! service enables users to outsource rendering
projects and eliminates the high costs, maintenance and technology
obsolescence inherent in managing large information technology
infrastructures.
The service also enables animation artists to substantially reduce
rendering time. According to WAM!NET's Ritzman, it currently takes
approximately 16.5 days to render 100 frames on a single desktop. With the
processing power enabled by WAM!NET's ROD! service, this time can be reduced
to four hours.

WAM!NET ROD! Service Bureau Also Expands Access to Rendering Services
In addition to Internet access to its services, WAM!NET has launched a
program to form the WAM!NET ROD! Service Bureau, a network of resellers that
provide customers with fully managed and secure access to the company's
rendering services.
WAM!NET ROD! Service Bureau members will receive a dedicated, Direct!(TM)
Service connection to WAM!NET rendering services complete with service
performance guarantees, increased data security, and integration support from
the reseller.
The new resellers will be announced throughout the Fourth Quarter. "By
expanding access to our rendering services, WAM!NET is enabling smaller
animation, special effects houses and independent artists to compete for large
studio projects," said Ritzman. "With the availability of ROD! via WAMNET.COM
and ROD! Service Bureaus, companies have more access points to this valuable
service."
