Motion Analysis Corporation Acquires MusculoGraphics, Inc.

SANTA ROSA, Calif., July 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Motion Analysis Corporation of
Santa Rosa, CA has announced the acquisition of MusculoGraphics, Inc. of
Evanston, Illinois.
MusculoGraphics produces SIMM, a flexible CAD tool that allows users to
create and analyze models of musculoskeletal structure. SIMM provides an
intuitive graphical interface for creating anatomically correct models and for
analyzing their functional properties, such as muscle strength and joint
torque. It is used worldwide by researchers and clinicians to help advance
understanding of the musculoskeletal system and to help diagnose and treat
people with musculoskeletal deficiencies.
"The integration of SIMM into Motion Analysis' suite of mocap tools is a
significant development for animators because it allows them to more easily
create realistic motions," said Tom Whitaker, President and CEO of Motion
Analysis. "The key to this benefit is SIMM's anatomically accurate full-body
model. Because this model has realistic kinematic models of each joint,
including range-of-motion information, it can filter out noise and assure
clean accurate data. This full-body model will soon be integrated into
Mocap Solver so that a complete, accurate model will be ready to use for any
Mocap Solver application."
"3D computer display combined with real time motion capture is
revolutionizing biomechanics research, sports performance analysis, physical
medicine and biofeedback." said Scott Delp, CEO of MusculoGraphics. "With the
joining of Motion Analysis Corporation and MusculoGraphics, Inc., physicians
and clinicians can now observe in real time the biomechanics of the human
function."
SIMM integrates seamlessly with the Motion Analysis system, providing
clinicians with real-time musculoskeletal animation, biomechanical analysis of
motions, and streaming plots of joint angles and muscle lengths. Applications
for this technology include: Biomechanics, galt analysis, surgical outcome
analysis, and orthopedic product design.
Motion Analysis Corporation is the leading provider of optical motion
capture systems for entertainment, medicine, sports and research with over
600 systems installed worldwide. Motion Analysis Corporation is headquartered
in Santa Rosa, California. Visit Motion Analysis Corporation on the World Wide
