BOSTON, July 26 /PRNewswire/ -- The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence
is hosting two separate events during the Democratic National Convention Week
that the news media is invited to attend. Following are the specific details
of the two events.
PRESS CONFERENCE: SARAH BRADY, POLICE COMMISSIONER O'TOOLE, OTHERS
SOUND URGENT ALERT ON ASSAULT WEAPONS BAN IN SPIRIT OF PAUL REVERE
At the Old North Church, placed into service in 1775 as a warning beacon
to start patriot Paul Revere on the ride immortalized by poets and historians,
Boston Police Commissioner Kathleen O'Toole will join Sarah Brady,
Massachusetts legislators, and Boston area leaders of national organizations
to send a warning to Americans that come September 14, deadly military-style
semiautomatic assault weapons will be legal again in America unless President
Bush gets Congress to act. The press conference is on Tuesday, July 27 at 10
AM at the Old North Church (Christ Church in the City of Boston), 193 Salem
Street in the North End.
"We are running out of time to prevent a ridiculous and lethal flood of
deadly weapons from being available to every dangerous and disturbed soul in
America," said Sarah Brady. "We must warn every citizen of this country that
despite his pledge as a candidate for President to renew the landmark ban on
assault weapons that has saved lives, President Bush has done nothing to save
the ban."
