Sun-Netscape Alliance and net.Genesis Team Up to Increase Effectiveness Of Business-to-Business Online Sales Channels

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., July 27 /PRNewswire/ -- The Sun-Netscape Alliance
today announced its strategic relationship with net.Genesis, a leading
provider of e-commerce intelligence solutions for Internet-enabled and Fortune
500 enterprises, that will help maximize the effectiveness of Alliance
customers' online sales channels. The Alliance plans to enable Netscape(R)
SellerXpert to interoperate with net.Genesis's netAnalysis measurement and
analysis software to provide companies with the necessary tools for gaining a
more thorough understanding of their online customer base.
The relationship with net.Genesis will support the Alliance's aggressive
Full/Speed/Ahead initiative (click here to view press release issued on
April 26 http://home.netscape.com/newsref/pr/newsrelease758.html ) that is
expanding the scope of the Alliance's e-commerce applications through
strategic relationships, faster product deployments and continued technology
innovation.
"The Sun-Netscape Alliance is providing hundreds of customers with
powerful packaged e-commerce solutions to help them move the best of their
business processes online and thrive in the Net Economy," said Daphne Carmeli,
vice president of strategic partnerships within the Sun-Netscape Alliance's
e-commerce division. "The Alliance will continue to partner with industry
leaders like net.Genesis to provide customers with the latest in specialized
online selling tools that leverage our production-ready solutions and
platforms for conducting e-commerce."
Netscape SellerXpert, available through the Alliance, is one of the most
complete production-ready applications for business-to-business online selling
on the market today. The solution offers reliable performance and
comprehensive functionality in the key areas required to deploy and online
sales channel including capturing, processing and tracking orders, effectively
marketing products by observing contracted terms, leveraging behavior of
online customers and creating sticky customer relationships by establishing
company portals serving up personalized content.
"The Sun-Netscape Alliance is a leader in providing packaged e-commerce
solutions and robust business-to-business online selling solutions," said
David George, vice president of strategic partnerships for net.Genesis.
"net.Analysis software will enhance the Alliance's online selling solution
with increased support for business intelligence capabilities."
The online business-to-business market is rapidly expanding, as is
evidenced by recent industry market reports by leading industry analysts.
Forrester Research estimates that the corporate e-commerce market will reach
$1.3 trillion by 2003. Similarly, International Data Corporation forecasts
that revenues from e-commerce will reach over $1 trillion by 2003 (source:
The Industry Standard, June 25, 1999 and June 29, 1999.) Given this exploding
market, businesses will clearly need to carefully evaluate the dollars spent
in their online marketing efforts to quantify which are most effective.
Leveraging net.Genesis' net.Analysis measurement software, the Alliance
will enhance the marketing support capabilities of its online selling
solution, enabling customers to better monitor the performance of targeted
marketing campaigns and sales initiatives being conducted on their online
sales channels, and evaluate the behavior of online customers.
The Alliance's portfolio of production ready e-commerce applications is
designed to interoperate with applications from leading third-party vendors
such as net.Genesis. Currently, the Alliance maintains strategic relationships
with innovative technology vendors including Andromedia, Net.Genesis and
NetPerceptions to enhance the one-to-one marketing capabilities within its
online selling solution and Trilogy and Selectica to increase its guided
online selling support for customers.
