GSC Partners Appoints New Managing Directors to Expand Investment Activities in Leveraged and Distressed Markets

NEW YORK, July 27 /PRNewswire/ -- GSC Partners, a private investment firm
with over $8 billion under management specializing in control distressed debt
investing, corporate credit, European mezzanine lending and structured
finance, today announced the appointment of Drew Doscher and Jeffrey Horan as
Managing Directors. The two will lead the firm's newly created hedge fund,
which will focus on corporate debt and equity investments in leveraged and
distressed markets. The new fund will involve long and short, as well as
capital structure arbitrage strategies, and will leverage existing control
distressed debt efforts.
Mr. Doscher, 35, and Mr. Horan, 36, have been investing in the leveraged
securities markets since 1991. Messrs. Doscher and Horan join GSC Partners
from UBS where they were the co-heads of Global Distressed Securities Trading.
They joined UBS in 2001 to start its global distressed business and
subsequently built it into the top-rated distressed trading desk, according to
Institutional Investor. Previously, Messrs. Doscher and Horan worked together
at Lehman Brothers, where their activities contributed to the distressed
trading desk receiving a top ranking.
"We believe that this new initiative represents an exciting new growth
opportunity for GSC Partners and is an excellent complement to our other
alternative asset businesses," said Alfred C. Eckert III, Chairman and Chief
Executive of GSC Partners. "We are extremely pleased to have Drew and Jeff
join us to lead this new initiative. We are also considering other investment
opportunities as we pursue our goal to be a leading institutional investment
manager of alternative assets with a full spectrum of complementary investment
product offerings."
Robert A. Hamwee, Managing Director of GSC Partners who oversees the
firm's control distressed debt funds, said, "The new initiative will allow us
to utilize various trading strategies that will leverage off of our control
