ITASCA, Ill., July 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The world's largest graphics arts
trade association is honoring Boise Paper Solutions' innovative technology and
"out-of the box" thinking associated with its new paper delivery system.
The Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (GATF) recognized Boise's SPLOX(TM)
speed-loading box design, with a 2004 InterTech Technology Award for
excellence in the development of new technology predicted to have a major
impact on the graphic communications industries. The independent panel of
judges believes that its industry members will significantly benefit from the
ergonomic and productivity features brought forth in the overall package
design. In honoring SPLOX, one judge said he expects the SPLOX paper delivery
system "to have a notable impact on the quick-turnaround digital print
centers."
With musculoskeletal injuries claiming 75 percent of the national workers'
compensation costs, SPLOX technology provides a potential source of relief for
Boise customers. A recent ergonomic study shows the SPLOX handle can reduce
strain on the spine by up to 51 percent when lifting boxes of paper. The
handle also allows employees to carry the SPLOX box at the side of the body,
reducing lower back strain by up to 72 percent. This may provide a reduction
in work-related injuries and the costs associated with them.
