OfficeMax's 'Hope Bucks' Campaign Raises Nearly $271,000
ITASCA, Ill., July 28 /PRNewswire/ -- OfficeMax(R), one of the nation's
largest office supply retailers, announced today that with the help of its
customers, it has raised nearly $271,000 in its "Hope Bucks" campaign to
benefit City of Hope. City of Hope is one of the world's leading research and
treatment centers for cancer, diabetes, HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening
diseases.
"Hope Bucks" can be purchased at any OfficeMax store checkout nationwide
in increments of $1, $2 or $5. Customers fill in their names or the names of
someone they would like to honor and post them on "Hope Boards" in the store.
Customers have until mid-September, 2004 to make a donation to City of Hope
through the "Hope Bucks" campaign.
"We're proud and excited to be taking part in raising much needed funds
for City of Hope," said Chris Milliken, division president and CEO of Boise
Office Solutions and OfficeMax. "Our associates and customers are helping to
support research and treatment that will lead to finding a cure for cancer and
other life-threatening diseases."
The charitable fundraising effort began on May 1, 2004, as part of
OfficeMax's annual participation in the "Partners in Hope" campaign. In
addition to the "Hope Bucks" effort, the retailer worked with participating
office products' manufacturers who donated funds from the sale of specially
marked items throughout the store from May 1 to June 30, 2004. OfficeMax is
part of an annual effort that includes office supply manufacturers and
resellers across the country.
