NEW YORK, July 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Avon Products, Inc. (NYSE: AVP) today
announced it has partnered with New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter to
create a signature men's fragrance called Driven, reflecting the unique

sale in November 2006 in the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada.

The rollout of the fragrance will be supported by a national print
advertising campaign, and an outdoor advertising campaign in the New York
City area. Jeter will also appear in the company's brochure, which is
distributed through Avon Representatives to over 15 million customers
bi-weekly, as well as Avon's men's catalog, which is distributed quarterly
to 11 million customers.
"We are thrilled to be partnering with Derek Jeter -- a man whose
career and community accomplishments make him an outstanding fit for the
brand. This partnership will truly take our men's business to the next
level," said Liz Smith, Executive Vice President and President, North
America and Global Marketing for Avon Products, Inc. "We have a shared
commitment to giving back to society and improving the lives of others.
We're so impressed with Derek's personal dedication to his Turn 2
Foundation which motivates young people to choose healthy lifestyles, and
we look forward to working with them."
"I'm excited to be working with Avon," said Jeter. "It's a strong,
dynamic company with an excellent reputation for corporate philanthropy
through their Avon Foundation. And professionally speaking, I was attracted
by the opportunity to be so heavily involved in the development of the
fragrance, and not just the name on the bottle. On every level, it just
felt right."
A two-time Gold Glove Award recipient and a seven-time All-Star, Jeter
has truly demonstrated impressive statistics on the field. Off the field,
he has been working closely with Avon, dedicating the same passion and
commitment to "hitting a home run" in the men's fragrance industry. His
commitment to success and perfection will be evident in Driven.
"I have been very involved with creating this fragrance -- everything
from the blend of scents to the design of the bottle and logo," Jeter says.
"I did have some help, however. Because women buy a large percentage of the
men's grooming products sold in the U.S., I asked my mother Dot and sister
Sharlee to be part of the project. I wanted to make sure the final product
was something men would like to wear -- and that women would want them to
wear."
The fragrance, a Fresh Fougere, is a blend of chilled grapefruit, clean
oak moss and spice. It will be housed in a sleek blue bottle with a silver
cap, which will feature the fragrance name.
The fragrance will be offered by Avon's 500,000 sales representatives
in the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada, as well as through the
company's web site, avon.com/derekjeter.

About the Turn 2 Foundation
Derek Jeter established the Turn 2 Foundation in 1996. The name "Turn
2" is symbolic of the dramatic double plays made by infielders during a
game. It also represents Derek's wish for young people to be able to "turn
to" his Foundation for guidance to avoid drugs and alcohol, and promote
healthy lifestyles. Turn 2 rewards the positive behavior of children --
especially those demonstrating academic achievement and leadership -- with
support from sponsors, partners and the Turn 2 staff.
