BUFFALO GROVE, Ill., July 31 /PRNewswire/ -- The Construction Writers
Association's Midyear Meeting, "Fundamentals of Construction Writing"
education session, and marketing and electronic communications awards
presentations will be October 18-20, 2006, at the Hotel Allegro in Chicago.
The CWA Midyear Meeting, Thursday morning, October 19, will feature
these themed sessions: "Big, Big Projects Underway in 2007-8;" "How
Environmental Issues Are Impacting an Illinois Tollway Construction
Project;" and, "Digital Media: An Overview and A Report on E-Newsletters."
Attendees will get a "back of the house" tour of O'Hare Airport in the
afternoon, followed by the Marketing Communications and Website &
Electronic Communications Awards Dinner.
On Friday morning, at our "Fundamentals of Construction Writing"
session, attorney Mark Partridge will be back by popular demand with an
update on copyright, legal issues relating to the internet, and more.
Partridge's presentation on plagiarism and fair use was a highlight of
CWA's 2005 Midyear Meeting. The other component of the Friday morning
session will be a media panel which will start with discovering a
publication's mission, move on to writing press releases and features that
meet a publication's needs, and close with guidelines for working with
construction industry publications.
CWA's Board of Directors will meet on Wednesday afternoon, and an
early- evening "Welcome to Chicago" pizza party will be hosted by Concrete
Products magazine in the IBM Building, which offers a view of Lake Michigan
and the Chicago skyline. All members are welcome to attend these events at
no charge.
Rooms at the Hotel Allegro will be $189 per night. The reservation cut-

Registration fees for members will be $125 for the Thursday Midyear
Meeting, including the Awards Dinner, and $125 for the Friday morning
"Fundamentals of Construction Writing" session - or $240 for both.
Nonmembers will pay $150 for each session or $290 for both. Nonmembers are
encouraged to join CWA for $100 individual annual dues and attend the
meeting at member registration rates. There is no charge to attend the CWA
Board of Directors Meeting, the welcome pizza party or the O'Hare tour.
