Hansel E. Tookes Is Named Chairman of Raytheon Aircraft
    LEXINGTON, Mass., Aug. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company
(NYSE: RTNA, RTNB) today announced that Hansel E. Tookes, 52, has been named
chairman of Raytheon Aircraft Company (RAC).  Tookes, who was elected a
Raytheon executive vice president in June, has served as president and chief
executive officer of RAC since January 2000.
    Tookes joined Raytheon in September 1999 as president and chief operating
officer of RAC. At that time, it was announced that Tookes would be named CEO
of RAC early in 2000 and chairman of RAC later in the year following the
planned retirement of Arthur E. Wegner, 63.
    Prior to joining Raytheon in September, Tookes was president of Pratt &
Whitney's Large Military Engines group, based in West Palm Beach, Fla., since
1996. He joined United Technologies Corp. (UTC) in 1980 and held increasingly
responsible leadership positions at its Norden Systems and Hamilton Standard
Division of the company, including executive vice president of Aircraft
Products, and vice president of Business Planning.
    Tookes holds a master of science degree in aeronautical systems from the
University of West Florida (1971) and a bachelor of science degree in physics
from Florida State University (1969). He has completed the Advanced Management
Program at Harvard. Tookes was a naval aviator, flying P-3C Orions. He was
also a pilot for United Airlines.
    Raytheon Aircraft, based in Wichita, Kan., designs, manufactures, markets
and supports jet, turboprop and piston-powered aircraft for the world's
commercial, military, and regional airline markets. It had revenues of $2.7
billion in 1999.
