PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y., Aug. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Andrea C. Martin, President
and CEO of RD Canada, has been promoted to President of Reader's Digest
Canada and Latin America regions, it was announced today by Mary Berner,
President and Chief Executive Officer of The Reader's Digest Association,
Inc. She will report to Berner. In addition to RD Canada reporting to her,
Martin will add as direct reports the following Managing Directors: Javier
Abarca, Mexico; Patricia Hespanha, Brasil; and Carlos Vetere, Argentina.

responsibility," Berner said. "Andrea has consistently led her Canadian

Martin was promoted to Managing Director in 2004 and produced strong
business results each year, leading a group of over 175 employees in the
Montreal head office and the Toronto advertising division. She also served
as Chairman of the Board of Directors of The Reader's Digest Association
(Canada) ULC. She became Vice President of Marketing in 2001 and played a
central role in positioning RD Canada as one of the country's largest and
most successful publishers and direct marketer. Martin was instrumental in
the commercialization of the magazines: Reader's Digest, Selection and the
newly launched Our Canada, and many of the other product lines
Earlier, from 1999 to 2001, she was RD Canada's Marketing Director of
Books & Home Entertainment, and, from 1995 to 1999, was Marketing Manager
of Home Entertainment and Product Manager for Video. She joined the company
in 1983 and served in a variety of marketing and product positions.
Martin has also been active in public service. As President of the
Grand Public Division of Centraide (United Way) Montreal, she spearheaded
innovative campaigns that increased contributions, surpassing Centraide's
$3.5 million goal. She played a key role as President of the Board of
Directors for La Fondation du Maire de Montreal pour la Jeunesse (FMMJ), a
non-profit organization that helps young, low-income Montrealers start
their own businesses. She also served on the Executive Committee of the
Young Presidents Organization, and was President of the Governor's Council
of the Jeune Chambre de Commerce de Montreal (JCCM).
RDA also announced the appointments of Paul Heath as President,
Reader's Digest Asia Pacific, and Michael Brennan, President, Reader's
Digest Europe and CEO of Direct Holdings Worldwide.
