PITTSBURGH, Aug. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- PennDOT will give away an all-expense
paid trip for two to the Fort Pitt Bridge construction zone to the lucky
winner of its Fort Pitt 2000 Contest.
Motorists can register for the contest on-line at epenndot.com, or by
mail.
Thousands of motorists have passed by the construction site, no doubt
wondering what the contractors were doing and when they will be done. Two
lucky area motorists will have the opportunity to see the work first-hand and
see what it takes to rebuild the busiest road in western Pennsylvania.
"Our job is serious business - building bridges in our community,
literally and figuratively," PennDOT spokesman Dick Skrinjar said. "However,
no one said we couldn't have fun doing it. This contest gives motorists the
chance to have an insider's view of what we do every day. It also gives them
a peek at the largest and most famous bridge project in western Pennsylvania
in the last century."
During the week of Aug. 28, the winner and a guest will be picked up in an
official PennDOT crew cab and whisked away to the hottest construction site in
town. They will be the guests of contractor Brayman Construction for a
30-minute lunch break and whirlwind tour of the most famous work zone of this
and next century...the Fort Pitt Bridge.
Winners will receive:
-- Official hard hat, vest, and PennDOT Gear - Orange is the
construction season's hottest color - make a fashion statement with
PennDOT gear!
-- Brown Bag Lunch - Eat like the Big Boys do and see what it takes to
satisfy the Men and Women of Steel who build our roads!
-- Photo Souvenir - No one will be able to visit the site for 40 years -
Back up your historic visit with a photo proving you've had your 15
minutes of fame!
-- Secret Project Information - What are the contractors doing and when
will they be done? Only the lucky winners will know the truth from
the work-side of the construction barrels!
