Fastest-Growing Vendor of Volume Servers Offers Enhanced Performance and
                          Flexibility for Customers

POWAY and IRVINE, Calif., Aug. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Gateway today
announced that it will utilize the new Intel(R) E7520 chipset and Intel(R)
Xeon(TM) processor with 800 MHz system bus in its lines of dual-processor
rackmount and tower servers to deliver greater performance, reduced response
time and enhanced flexibility benefits for its customers.

Gateway servers will begin shipping in the next several weeks with the new
Intel chipsets, which features a blazing-fast 800MHz front side bus and
processor clock speeds up to 3.60 GHz. The new Intel technology complements
Gateway's growing server line, which is designed to be easy-to-manage and
deploy, yet offer expandability, reliability and high-end features for
business, government and education customers.
In January 2004, Gateway was named the fastest-growing volume server
vendor in the country by IDC.
"Deploying the latest Intel chipsets and processors across our
dual-processor server lines will offer enhanced benefits for our customers,
such as increased server responsiveness and room to grow," said Tim
Diefenthaler, director of server products at Gateway. "Flexibility is key
when choosing a server partner. That's why Gateway servers are based on Intel
technology, to let our customers look to the future while improving their
system performance immediately."
Gateway platforms equipped with the Intel E7520 chipset and Intel Xeon
processor with 800 MHz system bus will deliver improved system responsiveness
and performance thanks to the increased front-side bus speed and Hyper
Threading technology. Other innovations such as PCI Express and DDR2 memory
support increased I/O and graphics performance and reduce system latency.
Also, enhanced Intel SpeedStep(R) technology ensures improved power savings, a
great concern for businesses deploying multiple servers in racks and in data
centers.
In addition, Gateway servers using the Intel technology will be better
prepared to handle current and future 64-bit software such as complex database
programs because the new Intel offerings support 64-bit computing. Customers
will also be able to experience dramatic performance increases associated with
64-bit computing, even while ensuring compatibility with today's 32-bit
software.
"The performance benefits of the new Intel(R) Xeon(TM) processor-based
server platforms with the Intel E7520 chipset are based on an array of new
technologies and capabilities that collectively better address the evolving
needs of enterprise computing and are a perfect match with Gateway's customer
focus to deliver a full line of industry-proven server products," said Ahbi
Talwalkar, Intel vice president and general manager, Enterprise Platforms
Group. "Gateway's rollout of new Intel server technology provides compelling
advantages for their customers that result in real-world IT improvements."
