AGEIA Announces physX Plug-in for Autodesk 3ds Max

AGEIA physX plug-in Enables Artists to Create, Test and Export Game Physics
While Working in Familiar Autodesk(R) 3ds Max(R) Environment

    LOS ANGELES, Aug. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- At SIGGRAPH 2005, AGEIA(TM)
Technologies, Inc., the pioneer in hardware-accelerated physics for games,
today announced plug-in functionality that will enable support for AGEIA's
physX(TM) SDK (formerly called NovodeX(TM)) for artists using Autodesk(R) 3ds
Max(R), one of the most popular 3D tools for multimedia development. This
closely integrated plug-in functionality will be combined with export
capability, which will enable 3ds Max artists to easily export physics-rich
characters and environments into runtime game applications.
With AGEIA's physX technology plug-in, artists can incorporate software
physics effects and hardware-accelerated realism into game action in an
intuitive, graphical way -- without requiring the intervention of programmers.
"The AGEIA physX plug-in for 3ds Max brings game physics closer to the
artist by allowing 3ds Max users to create finely tuned physics models and
test them without leaving the familiar 3ds Max environment," said Ken
Pimentel, senior product manager for animation, Autodesk. "This simplifies the
entire game development workflow and provides new creative options at every
stage of the pipeline."
"Autodesk 3ds Max is a giant in the industry when it comes to creating
quality visual effects, and dynamic content for games," said Manju Hegde,
founder and CEO of AGEIA Technologies. "With support for AGEIA physX software
and physX processor available for Autodesk 3ds Max, artists will have a
remarkable new tool at their disposal."
Hegde concluded, "Physics acceleration marks a shift in game design, and
with 3ds Max support, it will be very exciting to see what effects artists
will design into next-generation games."

    About 3ds Max software
3ds Max software is the most popular 3D tool for game development with
consistent delivery of high-quality results. As content becomes more complex
and workflow and creative management prove more challenging, companies look
not only to the market-proven 3ds Max modeling, animation and rendering
toolset, but also to Autodesk's commitment to providing solid cost of
ownership benefits through engineering advancements, re-investment in R&D, and
progressive subscription service advantages.

    About AGEIA
AGEIA(TM) Technologies, Inc. is a fabless semiconductor company and the
pioneer of hardware-accelerated physics for games. Its flagship product, the
physX processor, is the world's first dedicated physics processing unit -- a
completely new hardware category. The physX processor and supporting software
deliver the processing horsepower to calculate real-time interactive worlds.
Developers can define these worlds to obey the laws of classical physics, or
create their own physical laws that make their game a unique,
hyper-dimensional experience.

AGEIA seeks to ignite innovation in the games industry by working with
leading developers, publishers, add-in board vendors and console manufacturers
to deliver the next generation of physically immersive entertainment. Consumer
add-in boards and systems equipped with the AGEIA physX processor and games
that take advantage of the technology will be available in late 2005. For more
