NEW YORK, Aug. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Sundance Channel and Grey Goose
Entertainment in association with Conde Nast Media Group, today unveiled
the six pairings set to appear during the second season of the Sundance
Channel original television series "Iconoclasts." Premiering Thursday,
October 26, 2006, each hour-long program features two leading innovators
from different fields who come together to discuss their passions and
creative processes. The six-part primetime series, executive produced by
Robert Redford, will air weekly at 9 PM ET/PT.

Participants for Season Two are Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder and big-wave
surfer Laird Hamilton; dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov and chef Alice Waters;
filmmaker Quentin Tarantino and singer/songwriter Fiona Apple; actress
Isabella Rossellini and inventor Dean Kamen; music great Paul Simon and
producer Lorne Michaels; and comedian Dave Chappelle and poet Maya Angelou.
The second season of "Iconoclasts" is produced by @radical.media and
directed by Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky (the filmmakers behind
Metallica: Some Kind of Monster).
Not just an ordinary interview program, "Iconoclasts" captures the
essence of these headline-makers through the eyes of the creative
visionaries who respect and admire them the most. Set outside of a studio
at a location meaningful to one or both of the subjects, each pair provides
viewers with an inside glimpse into the passion, inspiration, and
motivation that made these iconoclasts who they are today.
Last season's installments of "Iconoclasts" presented intimate and
unpredictable portraits of today's provocative creative leaders from the
worlds of film, food, music, sports, and business including Sundance
founder Robert Redford with Paul Newman, actress Renee Zellweger with
journalist Christiane Amanpour, chef Mario Batali with REM's Michael Stipe.

Musician Eddie Vedder + Surfer Laird Hamilton (Oct. 26 at 9 PM ET/PT)
Eddie Vedder is lead singer and guitarist for the highly influential
band, Pearl Jam, which first rocketed to success in the 1990s. Pearl Jam is
currently in the midst of a world tour following the release of their
acclaimed 2006 self titled album.
Recognized as the guiding genius of board sports, Laird Hamilton is
widely recognized as one of the best big-wave surfers and pioneers of the
sport. He also is a partner in a production company, Bam Man Films and
recently released the film, "All Aboard the Crazy Train," a look at the
state of big wave surfing today.
Dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov + Chef Alice Waters (Nov. 2 at 9 PM ET/PT)
World-renowned dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov currently heads the newly
founded Baryshnikov Arts Center. He founded and danced with White Oak Dance
Project, was the Artistic Director and dancer at the American Ballet
Theater and danced with the New York City Ballet. Baryshnikov earned a Tony
nomination and a Drama Critics Award for his performance in
"Metamorphosis", and has received Emmy Awards for his TV specials. He
recently received the Kennedy Center Honor and The National Medal of Arts.
Alice Waters is an author, award-winning chef and an advocate for
farmers' markets and sustainable agriculture. She founded the legendary
Chez Panisse, a restaurant recognized for offering only the highest quality
products, and is the founder of the Chez Panisse Foundation, an
organization that develops cultural and educational programs on the
transformative power of food.
Filmmaker Quentin Tarantino + Singer Fiona Apple (Nov. 9 at 9 PM ET/PT)
Quentin Tarantino is a vibrantly imaginative and visionary filmmaker
most recognized for such films as Kill Bill Vol. I, Kill Bill Vol. II, Pulp
Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, and Jackie Brown. He is currently in production on
Grindhouse, his highly anticipated collaboration with Robert Rodriquez.
Fiona Apple is an acclaimed and daring singer and songwriter who
exploded on to the pop music scene in 1996 with her debut album "Tidal" and
the Grammy Award winning "Criminal". She has been nominated for numerous
Grammy Awards including one for a cover of "Bridge Over Troubled Water"
that she recorded with Johnny Cash. She most recently released her third
album, "Extraordinary Machine."
Actress Isabella Rossellini + Inventor Dean Kamen (Nov. 16 at 9 PM
ET/PT)
Isabella Rossellini is an Italian-Swedish model and actress who has
also developed her own line of cosmetics and fragrances. Daughter of Ingrid
Bergman and Roberto Rossellini, she is well known for her star turn in
David Lynch's Blue Velvet and recently co-starred in such films as The
Architect and La Fiesta del Chivo as well as appeared in the hit series
"Alias." In 2006 she produced and starred in a film about her father titled
My Dad is 100 Years Old.
Dean Kamen is an American inventor and entrepreneur, best known for the
Segway(R) HT. He is the founder and president of DEKA R&D Corporation, and
holds more than 440 patents for innovative devices that have expanded the
frontiers of health care worldwide. His inventions include the first
wearable insulin pump for diabetics and the INDEPENDENCE(R) IBOT(R)
Mobility System. In 1989 Kamen founded FIRST (For Inspiration and
Recognition of Science and Technology), an organization dedicated to
motivating the next generation to understand, use, and enjoy science and
technology.
Singer/Songwriter Paul Simon + Producer Lorne Michaels (Nov. 23 at 9 PM
ET/PT)
American Singer/Songwriter Paul Simon was named one of the "100 people
who shape our world" by Time Magazine in 2006. He served as half of the
folk- singing duo Simon and Garfunkel and continues a successful solo
career today.
Lorne Michaels is the creator and executive producer of "Saturday Night
Live," the longest-running and highest-rated weekly late night television
program in history. Over the last 30 years, "SNL" has won numerous Emmy
Awards and was honored with the prestigious George Foster Peabody Award and
cited as "truly a national institution." Michaels has personally won ten

Comedian and actor Dave Chappelle is best known as the host and star of
the hit series "The Chappelle Show," on Comedy Central. His highly
original, inventive and sometimes controversial sketch comedy addresses
social issues and race. He recently produced, wrote and starred in the
feature film Dave Chappelle's Block Party.
Dr. Maya Angelou is an eminent American poet, memoirist and actress who
is also recognized as an influential figure in the American Civil Rights
Movement. She was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize and read her poem "On the
Pulse of Morning," for Bill Clinton's first Presidential Inauguration.
