PITTSBURGH, Aug. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- U.S. Women In Nuclear
(U.S. WIN/ http://www.winus.org ) honored Michele DeWitt, Westinghouse
Electric Company's vice president of Repair, Replacement and Automation
Services, with its top leadership award July 16, 2007, at its national
conference held in Anaheim, Calif.
The award is named to honor Patricia Bryant, a founder of Women in
Nuclear Global and U.S. WIN, and a long-time leader in nuclear
organizations.
Mrs. DeWitt received the award for:
-- supporting environments in nuclear energy and nuclear technologies in
which both women and men are able to succeed;
-- providing a network through which women in this industry can further
their professional development; and
-- providing an organized association through which the public is informed
about nuclear energy and nuclear technologies.
Mrs. DeWitt was commended for her commitment to the furtherance of, and
mentorship within, the nuclear industry, and for aligning with WIN's intent
of setting a successful stage for today's nuclear professionals, and for
setting high standards for tomorrow.
Mrs. DeWitt sponsored the creation of the first Pittsburgh.-based
Westinghouse Electric Company Women in Nuclear chapter. This
company-sponsored WIN chapter has grown to more than 125 members within the
past six years, and focuses on activities that encourage young people to
enter engineering and nuclear power careers.
"WIN's objectives are well aligned to support our current industry in
terms of meeting the challenges for growth, attracting and developing
people, and enhancing public acceptance of the global nuclear services
industry," Mrs. DeWitt said.
