QUINCY, Ill., Aug. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Ross Centanni, Chairman, President
and CEO of Gardner Denver, Inc. (NYSE: GDI), announced today that Diane
Schumacher has been elected to the Company's Board of Directors. Alan E.
Riedel and Michael J. Sebastian recently retired from the Board.
Ms. Schumacher has served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and
Secretary of Cooper Industries, Inc., a manufacturer of electrical products
and tools and hardware, since 1995. From 1993 to 1995 Ms. Schumacher held the
position of Vice President, Administration and Corporate Secretary and the
position of Vice President and Corporate Secretary from 1991 to 1993. She
joined Cooper in 1980 holding various positions in Cooper's law department
prior to her executive appointments. Mr. Centanni said, "Gardner Denver is
very fortunate to have Diane join our Board. Her extensive background in
corporate law and corporate governance, as well as her experience in mergers
and acquisitions, will complement the composition of Gardner Denver's existing
