BRIDGEVILLE, Pa., Aug. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- District Engineer, Ray Hack,
P.E., today announced the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation awarded
Cipra Construction, Incorporated the contract for a $700,000 state-funded
Route 8 construction project in Shaler Township. "This section of Route 8
is commonly referred to as the William Flynn Highway," Hack said.
PennDOT Design Development Specialist, Doug Seely, discussed the project,
"The milling and asphalt resurfacing is along 2.3 miles of roadway between
Saxonburg Boulevard to south of Butler Plank Road." "The latest safety design
guide rail along with drainage, sections of new curb and roadway dividers will
be used during the project," said Mike Schoss, Traffic Safety Supervisor for
PennDOT.
"PennDOT is always looking to apply the latest technology to improve
safety for motorists," added Schoss.
Brad Miller, PennDOT Project Manager, said, "The anticipated start date is
August 14, 2000 and is scheduled to be completed before Halloween, 2000."
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will pay for the Police Officers
needed at the signalized intersections. Flag persons will be located at
business entrances for the ease of traffic flow and safety. Traffic Control
manager, Dan Quarcoo said, "Traffic will be maintained at all times with one
lane in each direction."
