SCO Forum98 to Feature World's First Live Multi-Lingual Webcast

       SCO Will Simulcast Keynotes in English, Spanish, and Portuguese

    SANTA CRUZ, Calif., Aug. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- SCO (Nasdaq: SCOC) announced
today that SCO Forum98 will feature the world's first live, multi-language
simulcast on the World Wide Web.  Keynote speeches from SCO Forum98 will be
simulcast in English, Portuguese and Spanish beginning Monday, August 17 at
8:30 a.m. PDT.  SCO's Web development team created this unique simulcast
system with UnixWare 7 and RealNetworks technologies running on Compaq
servers.  The Web site for the live simulcasts is
http://www.sco.com/forum98/webcast.
    Key industry leaders will deliver the keynotes from the Quarry on the
University of California, Santa Cruz, campus.  The Spanish and Portuguese
language translators will be in sound-proof booths in a nearby encoding
station.  Quarry audience members can listen to the live translations via
headphones.
    Keynote speakers include:

    * Doug Michels, president and CEO, SCO
    * Mary McDowell, vice president and general manager, Industry Standard
      Server Division, Compaq
    * Dave McAughtry, vice president of IBM's NC Division
    * Howard Bubb, president and CEO, Dialogic Corporation
    * A lively point-counterpoint session with Dan Kusnetzky, IDC's director
      of UNIX and Client/Server Environments Program, Paul Lavin, a renowned
      European journalist, moderated by David Coursey, editor and publisher of
      coursey.com.

    Forum98 -- Bigger, Better, Than Ever
    Forum98 is SCO's 12th annual gathering of open systems professionals.
Held August 16-21 at the University of California, Santa Cruz, this year's
event is bigger and better than ever.  Forum98 will feature four main Session
Tracks:  Server, Client Integration, Developer and Business.  And, for the
first time ever, SCO Forum will incorporate UniForum, the popular open systems
group.  The UniForum track will focus on Network Computing as a rallying point
for uniting all UNIX vendors.

    Network Computing Pavilion Features New Thin Client Technologies
    Forum98 will also feature the latest Network Computing solutions at the
third annual Network Computing Pavilion.  Located at Stevenson Hall on the
UCSC campus, this year's Pavilion will feature live software demonstrations
from such companies as Lotus, Corel, and Conduit, as well as product
demonstrations from leading hardware vendors including IBM, NCD, Tektronix,
Telxon, and Wyse.

    Market Showcases
    On the business side, SCO Forum98 will include showcases for specific
market segments, including retail, enterprise, SMB, telecommunications, and
accounting.  These showcases will feature the latest solutions for their
respective markets.

    UnixWare 7 and RealNetworks Make Simulcast Possible
    SCO's Web development team leveraged the capabilities of UnixWare 7 and
RealNetworks technologies running on Compaq servers to make the simulcast
