Shoe Carnival Invites Public to Pre-Recorded Call on July Sales and to Webcast on Second Quarter Earnings

    EVANSVILLE, Ind., Aug. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Shoe Carnival, Inc.
(Nasdaq: SCVL), a leading retailer of value-priced footwear and accessories,
today announced its intent to release July sales on Thursday, August 9, 2001
and second quarter earnings on Thursday, August 16, 2001.
    The public is invited to listen to a pre-recorded call during which Kerry
Jackson, senior vice president - chief financial officer and treasurer of Shoe
Carnival, Inc. will discuss July sales.  The telephone replay will be
available Thursday, August 9, 2001, beginning at 7:30 a.m. Eastern time.  To
