Columbia Banking System to Present at Howe Barnes Hoefer & Arnett 12th Annual Bank Conference

    TACOMA, Wash., Aug 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Columbia Banking System,
Inc. (Nasdaq: COLB) announced today that Melanie J. Dressel, President and
Chief Executive Officer, and Gary R. Schminkey, Executive Vice President
and Chief Financial Officer, will participate in the Howe Barnes Hoefer &
Arnett 12th Annual Bank Conference in Chicago, Illinois. Columbia is
scheduled to give a presentation discussing their business strategy and
financial performance on Monday, August 13, 2007 at 3:50 p.m. CDT (1:50
p.m. PDT).
