Hyundai Shuts Down Maiden Lane for Performance Rides

New Genesis Sports Sedan Invades Financial District

NEW YORK, Aug. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- (Update -- This replaces release
posted earlier) -- On Friday, Aug. 8, Hyundai will offer visitors in New
York's Financial District an opportunity to take a fast ride or luxurious
break in the new Genesis premium sports sedan -- a serious competitor to
the likes of Lexus ES, Cadillac CTS and Chrysler 300.

Genesis will be driven on a special course by professional drivers at
the annual Financial Community Day Festival (Aug. 8, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.).
Festival visitors will be invited to ride along and experience the power,
smoothness and luxury of the new Genesis. Located on Maiden Lane (between
Front St. and South St.), the Hyundai display will introduce the Genesis
3.8L and 4.6L models, with base prices of $33,000 and $38,000,
respectively.

Hyundai's New York display is a part of a nationwide tour, showing
potential buyers a new side to its aggressive product expansion. The
company is touring 15 U.S. cities in 17 weeks to introduce the new sports
luxury sedan to potential customers. The tour includes a traveling display,
eight new Genesis vehicles and a crew of 25-30.

Both Genesis models come well-equipped with standard safety features
such as Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System
(four-wheel disc), front airbags, side airbags at all four doors and roof
mounted curtain airbags. It also has electronic active front head
restraints that automatically adjust optimally for each individual. Both
models also offer XM NavTraffic and Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFLS).

Genesis' performance is exceptional with a Lambda 3.8 V6 or a Tau 4.6
V8 producing 290 and 375 horsepower, respectively. Both engines are mated
with advanced six-speed automatic transmissions to produce excellent
highway mileage of 27 mpg for the V6 and 25 mpg for the V8. The Genesis 4.6
V8 produces more horsepower per liter and better mileage ratings than the
Lexus GS 460 or the BMW 750i. Genesis has more cabin room than either the
BMW 5-Series or the Mercedes E-Class, but with more body rigidity and
lighter weight. This translates to a quieter, roomier ride that includes
Lexicon(R) audio systems as standard equipment. Road & Track's Andrew
Bornhop said, "Clearly, Hyundai is proud of the Genesis, and this shows
inside, where there are gobs of space and a gently curving dash that looks
especially rich, dare I say European, covered with attractively stitched
leather." (Road & Track -- May 2008)

The interior also includes standard keyless entry and ignition, XM
satellite radio, heated seats, iPod and USB au dio integration and
Bluetooth connectivity for cell phones. Hyundai's marketing program is
designed to show consumers that with Genesis you can have luxury, quality
and performance that equals or betters the competition without overpaying.
Car and Driver's Michael Austin said, "...the Genesis stands poised to make
drivers reevaluate their perceptions of the Hyundai brand, which is good
for Hyundai and bad for the competition." (Car and Driver - May 2008)
