Walk Expected To Raise from $90,000 to $100,000
ST. LOUIS, Aug. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Reliv Kalogris
Foundation, the charitable arm of Reliv International, Inc. (Nasdaq: RELV),
a Chesterfield-based maker of soy-based nutritional supplements, is hosting
a one-mile walk/5K run on Aug. 11 to raise money for people in need in the
United States and seven other countries. More than 3,000 participants are
expected to turn out.
The event, called the Walk for the Mission, will raise an estimated
$90,000 to $100,000 for the Reliv Foundation. Reliv International will
match up to $50,000 raised by its worldwide distributors.
"The mission of Reliv International and the Reliv Kalogris Foundation
is to "nourish our world," and this event fits the mission perfectly," said
R. Scott Montgomery, chairman of the Reliv Foundation. "The funds will buy
nutritional supplements for thousands of people internationally. For many
of them, these supplements are the only nutritional intake they'll have in
a typical day," he added.
The walk/run event will take place Saturday, Aug. 11, beginning at 6:45
a.m. From 6:30 to 9:00 a.m., the following downtown streets will close for
the event: Seventh Street from Washington Ave. to Market Street, and Market
to 23rd St.
The Reliv Foundation provides free nutritional supplements to nearly
25,000 people every day. Since its founding, the Foundation has donated
supplements to people in need in more than 15 countries.
The Walk for the Mission is part of Reliv's International Conference,
being held Aug. 9-11 at America's Center. Reliv distributors from more than
10 countries are expected to take part in the event.
