Unexpected Demand Prompts Gateway to Offer
Free Child IDs Nationwide for a Second Weekend
WHO: Gateway stores nationwide
WHAT: Will offer parents and children the opportunity to participate
in Gateway's third annual KidSpot Child ID Program again this
weekend, after last weekend's program attracted more than 5,000
families. Working in conjunction with the National Center for
Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), Gateway will provide
parents with a free Digital ID CD-ROM at all of its 274 stores
nationwide.
Free Digital IDs -- A current photo and vital information stored
on a CD is invaluable in helping law enforcement officials find
a missing child. As part of the KidSpot Child ID Program,
on-site technology advisors will photograph children with a
digital camera. The original photo is saved to a CD with other
vital information for parents to take home and store in a safe
place. Photos can be updated in the future free of charge.
Child safety experts say digital IDs are extremely helpful if a
child becomes missing. They contain up-to-date photos and
information and can be quickly e-mailed or printed using a
computer.
