EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Aug. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company has received a
$121.8 million contract from Lockheed Martin to deliver Lot 3 and Lot 4 Common
Integrated Processors (CIP) to the F/A-22 fighter program. This award
represents 42 ship-sets of CIP Hardware.
"The award helps solidify Raytheon's future as the main supplier of
processor avionics for the F/A-22 production program and ensures its
participation in future architecture changes or upgrades," said Jack Kelble,
president of Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems.
This award is part of the completed negotiations for CIP production Lots
1-4.
The F/A-22 CIP consists of line replaceable modules and multi-chip
modules. It is the "brains" of the avionics system and provides a fully
integrated, flexible and expandable architecture for performing
communications, navigation, identification, electronic warfare, radar, and
sensor fusion functions.
Raytheon has been a key supplier of major processing systems for Lockheed
Martin's F/A-22 since 1991.
Contract work will be performed at Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems'
facilities in El Segundo, Calif., and Dallas and McKinney, Texas, and is
expected to be complete by the end of 2006.
