Raytheon's UK Subsidiary Wins Successor Identification Friend or Foe Contract Worth Approximately $150 Million

    LONDON, Aug. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Systems Limited (RSL), a business
of Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTNA, RTNB) has been chosen as the preferred
supplier for the UK's Successor Identification Friend or Foe (SIFF) Program at
a value of approximately $150 million.
    Speaking at a press conference today at the company's Harlow facility,
Peter McKee, RSL's managing director, said, "This is great news for us.  We
have been at the forefront of IFF technology for over 50 years and are
recognized as the UK center of excellence in this field. Our IFF solution
protects our forces in the front line, and the team we have assembled will
ensure that this protection is in place when it is needed and within the
Ministry of Defence's (MoD) budget."
    This contract maintains Raytheon's position as a leading IFF provider. As
a result the company has been able to offer a low risk, technically superior
solution which goes to the heart of smart procurement.  RSL has supplied IFF
equipment to MoD for over 50 years and has long established relationships with
the platform design authorities that will enable the company to provide best
value in through-life support.
    RSL already holds the SIFF contract for Tornado F3 ADV, and has been
selected as preferred supplier of SIFF for the Rapier FSC air defense weapon
system.  In addition, RSL is a workshare partner on the IFF system for the
Eurofighter/Typhoon.
    As the UK-based subsidiary of Raytheon Company, RSL serves both defense
and commercial markets with some 2,000 employees working out of nine
