The privately held company was founded in 1999 by Arun Gupta and Rajiv
Uppal. A total of 26 former NeuVis employees have joined Rational and will
play a key role in Rational's strategy to help its enterprise IT customers
build business applications.
NeuVis' flagship product is a model-driven application development tool
for creating agile, enterprise-class, n-tier applications that complements
Rational's existing product line. For example, unified modeling language (UML)
models built with Rational modeling products can drive a development effort
using NeuVis technology; artifacts built using NeuVis technology can be
managed in Rational's software configuration management solutions and tested
using Rational's testing tools.
"We're very excited to welcome the NeuVis team to Rational. They're a
world-class team with excellent technology," said Mike Devlin, CEO and co-
founder of Rational Software. "We see the addition of the NeuVis technology
as a strong complement to our strategy to support the major industry IDEs,
such as those from Microsoft and IBM."
"We're excited to see Rational expanding its capabilities into the n-tier
business application development tools market through its acquisition of
NeuVis," said Jon Roskill, General Manager, Solutions Marketing Group at
Microsoft Corporation. "We've been working with Rational to support broad
scale deployment of .NET and we believe NeuVis complements that strategy."
