Catalina Marketing Announces Filing Date for Fiscal 2005 First Quarter Form 10-Q

    ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Aug. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Catalina Marketing
Corporation (NYSE: POS) announced today that it will delay the filing of its
quarterly report on Form 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, 2004.  As
required, Catalina has filed a notification of late filing with the Securities
and Exchange Commission under Rule 12b-25.
    Catalina completed and filed its annual report on Form 10-K for the year
ended March 31, 2003 on May 17, 2004 (which included restated financial
statements for fiscal years ended March 31, 2002 and March 31, 2001) and
completed and filed its annual report on Form 10-K for the year ended March
31, 2004 on July 15, 2004.  The reporting of the first fiscal 2005 quarter,
ended June 30, 2004, has been delayed because of the time and resources
required to complete these filings.  Catalina expects to file its quarterly
report on Form 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, 2004 on Monday, August 16,
2004, which is within the allowable extension permitted under Rule 12b-25.
    The company reiterated that the delay in filing has not had an impact on
its credit facilities and that it is currently in compliance with all related
financial covenants.

    Webcast Scheduled
    The company also announced that it will host a webcast on Monday, August
16, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. EDT to discuss its financial results that it expects
to file in its fiscal 2005 first quarter report on Form 10-Q.  The webcast may

16, 2004 through Thursday, September 16, 2004.
