Antibody pioneer develops a novel technology sensitive enough to detect
monoclonal antibodies on rodent tissue
DEDHAM, Mass., Aug. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Signet Laboratories, an industry
leader in the development of monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies, today
announced the release of ACUITY(TM) Mouse-on-Mouse Polymer Detection System.
ACUITY(TM) Mouse-on-Mouse is sensitive enough to allow researchers to use
mouse monoclonal antibodies on mouse or rat tissue.
Signet's ACUITY(TM) Mouse-on-Mouse Polymer Detection System is a sensitive
biotin-free detection system for use with monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies
on mouse or rat tissue. ACUITY(TM) Mouse-on-Mouse provides cost savings by
enabling researchers to use less antibody, while increasing staining intensity
and eliminating background.
According to Angela Thomas, IHC Product Manager for Signet Laboratories,
"ACUITY(TM) Mouse-on-Mouse eliminates non-specific staining through the use of
Signet's proprietary blocking reagent system, allowing researchers to use
readily available antibodies rather than costly esoteric antibodies from
different species."
ACUITY(TM) kits are intended for the chromogenic detection of antigens
that have bound to a user-supplied primary antibody on mouse or rat tissue.
ACUITY(TM) Mouse-on-Mouse utilizes a combination of novel poly-labeling and
blocking technologies. Secondary antibodies are directly polymerized with
horseradish peroxidase (HRP) or Alkaline Phosphatase (AP) into compact
polymers bearing a higher ratio of enzymes to antibodies. The novel blocking
technology eliminates background staining and provides sensitive and specific
detection of antigens on mouse or rat tissues with mouse or rabbit primary
antibodies.
About Signet Laboratories, Inc.
Signet Laboratories, Inc. is a pioneering evidence-based medicine (EviMed)
company that is committed to developing and commercializing predictive
diagnostics and preventive drugs and therapies for critical disease states.
Evidence-based medicine is the treatment of diseases prior to their full
manifestation, with the goal of reducing their occurrence and preventing
disease progression by early identification of patients with increased risk
factors.
Drawing on long experience in developing diagnostic assays and antibodies
for disease detection and treatment, Signet's mission is to create novel
diagnostics and drugs for patients at risk for cancer, sepsis and renal
failure (SARF), neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer's, Parkinson's
and Huntington's, and prion diseases such as "Mad Cow" and vCJD.
In addition to diagnostics, drugs and therapies, Signet offers a complete
product line of over 600 manufactured antibodies, ELISA kits, detection
products and accessories in an FDA registered GMP facility. Signet products
