WASHINGTON, Aug. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Jim Greenwood, president and CEO of
the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO), announced today that Jeffrey
A. Joseph will become the organization's vice president of communications
beginning on September 6.
"I am very pleased that Jeff has accepted our offer to join the BIO
team," Greenwood said. "Jeff's passion and skill as a communicator will
provide tremendous leadership for our public relations staff. Jeff's
experience will be a significant addition to our world class advocacy
organization and he will serve BIO's 1,100 members very well in
communicating to our varied audiences the benefits that biotechnology can
bring to the world with an environment of supportive public policy."
Joseph is presently the Vice President of Communications and Strategic
Relations at the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). While at CEA, he
managed the communications department, served as an industry spokesperson
and was responsible for CEA's media and public affairs strategies. During
his tenure, Joseph played an instrumental role in top technology policy
issues, including the nation's transition to digital television,
intellectual property and environmental policy. Under his leadership, media
and analyst attendance doubled at CEA's International Consumer Electronics
Show (CES(R)), the world's largest annual showcase for consumer technology.
Prior to joining CEA, Joseph spent 11 years at Ogilvy Public Relations
Worldwide in Washington, D.C. where he managed and designed comprehensive,
multi-disciplinary communications and media outreach campaigns. As a senior
vice president and senior member of Ogilvy public affairs division, he led
campaigns surrounding some of the most hotly debated political issues of
the past two decades including federal and state tax policy, federal land
management, managed trade and farm policy.
In 2005, Joseph was named PR Professional of the Year in the
Nonprofit/Association category by PR News. Joseph also was named to PR
Week's "In-House A List" and to Dealerscope Magazine's "Top 40 Under 40 In
The Consumer Electronics Industry" in 2003.
Joseph is a 1986 graduate of Princeton University where he received a
bachelor's degree in religion.
BIO represents more than 1,100 biotechnology companies, academic
institutions, state biotechnology centers and related organizations across
the United States and 31 other nations. BIO members are involved in the
research and development of healthcare, agricultural, industrial and
environmental biotechnology products.
