- Paradigm Array Labs New Offering is Launched at
Drug Discovery Technology Conference in Boston -
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., Aug. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Paradigm
Genetics, Inc. (Nasdaq: PDGM) and Arcturus Biosciences announced today the
establishment of a collaboration in which Paradigm Genetics' Paradigm Array
Laboratories has begun offering services using Arcturus' Laser Capture
Microdissection (LCM) systems and the Paradise Reagent System. Laser
dissection of tissue samples allows researchers to target specific cell types
for analysis, rather than mixed cell populations, resulting in more precise
genomic data. Gene expression within dissected samples is analyzed using
either Affymetrix or Agilent arrays. Paradigm Array Laboratories is the only
authorized service provider for both platforms.
Paradigm has launched access to their new LCM system-based services at the
Drug Discovery Technology conference, which is taking place August 8 -13 in
Boston, MA.
"This agreement with Paradigm provides Arcturus with an important new
channel for marketing the capabilities of our integrated microgenomics LCM
system and reagents that enable molecular analysis of microscopic tissue
samples. The Paradise Reagent System enables the measurement of whole genome
expression from both frozen and formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE)
tissue samples. This technology now allows genomic analysis of the wealth of
FFPE samples that have been archived in hospital settings, as well as from
clinical trials and basic research studies," stated Bob Schueren, EVP & COO of
Arcturus. "Paradigm is a recognized leader in systems biology and we are
pleased to work together co-promoting the services provided by the use of our
microgenomics platform."
"We have already secured a large pharmaceutical company as a new customer
for this service and are confident that we can continue this type of
commercial success. Establishing this collaboration with Arcturus expands
Paradigm's systems biology offering and provides scientists with more precise
tools for measuring changes at the microscopic cellular level that are
indicative of specific disease and drug activity. The LCM system and
integrated reagents are already in production as part of our systems biology
platform and are being used efficiently with both Affymetrix and Agilent
microarrays," said Thomas J. Colatsky, Ph.D., Vice President of Human Health
Research at Paradigm.
